The Electoral College Voting System, Explained by a 12 year old.

The Electoral College is the voting system in the United States of America. Many times a candidate for president lost the popular vote but won the electoral, like Donald Trump, George Bush Jr., Benjamin Harrison, Rutherford Hayes and John Adams became president not by the American people but by the electors.

There are 538 electors in the U.S; you need a majority of 270 to become a president. Every state has an amount of electors. The more populated states like California have weaker voting power like Wyoming that have three times the power then one Californian vote.

Some say this is undemocratic and to some degree, they are correct. There are much better voting systems like the transferable vote, which we use in Ireland.
